Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about Dorvalix Cloud's sovereign infrastructure and services.

Sovereign cloud storage ensures that all data is stored and processed exclusively within Canadian borders, on infrastructure owned and operated by a domestic provider. This is critical for compliance with PIPEDA and other Canadian regulations, ensuring data residency, privacy, and protection from foreign jurisdiction.

Our data centers are physically located in Canada, with all operational and technical controls managed by our Canadian team. We provide contractual guarantees of data residency and undergo regular third-party audits to verify compliance with PIPEDA's requirements for the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information.

We offer scalable HPC clusters optimized for workloads in genomics, computational fluid dynamics, AI/ML training, and engineering simulations. Solutions include GPU-accelerated instances, high-memory nodes, and fast interconnect fabrics, all accessible via a secure, high-bandwidth network within our climate-controlled facilities.

Our backup architecture employs geo-redundant storage across multiple Canadian zones. Data is encrypted, versioned, and replicated in real-time. We offer RPOs (Recovery Point Objectives) of near-zero and RTOs (Recovery Time Objectives) tailored to client needs, ensuring engineering and genomic datasets are protected against loss or corruption.

Our facilities feature 24/7 physical security, biometric access, and environmental controls maintaining optimal temperature and humidity. Network security includes DDoS protection, intrusion detection, and zero-trust architecture. All data is encrypted at rest and in transit using FIPS 140-2 validated modules.

Contact our team to schedule a consultation. We will assess your requirements for storage, HPC, or backup, provide a detailed proposal, and guide you through our onboarding process, which includes data migration support and compliance documentation. Reach us at info@dorvalix.cloud or 586-598-9742.

Clarifications & Important Notes

Key details, terms, and disclaimers regarding our sovereign cloud infrastructure and services for Canadian research institutions.

It means all data processed and stored by Dorvalix Cloud remains exclusively within Canadian borders, in our secure data centers. This ensures compliance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), a critical requirement for Canadian research involving sensitive personal, genomic, or engineering data.
Yes, authorized users can access their data and HPC resources from anywhere via secure, encrypted connections. However, the physical servers and storage infrastructure are located only in Canada. Data does not transit through or reside in foreign jurisdictions at any point.
Our backup systems employ geo-redundant replication across multiple, climate-controlled facilities within Canada. This applies specifically to our storage solutions for critical datasets. HPC compute environments are highly available but have different redundancy models. Specific Service Level Agreements (SLAs) detailing recovery point and time objectives are provided in the service contract.
We specialize in research data. We do not host general public-facing web applications, e-commerce platforms, or consumer media streaming. All use must comply with Canadian law and our Acceptable Use Policy. Certain high-risk research domains may require additional compliance reviews.
HPC resources are typically provisioned on a project basis with dedicated compute, memory, and GPU allocations. Billing is based on reserved capacity, not pay-as-you-go public cloud models. This ensures predictable costs and performance for long-running research simulations. Contact us for a custom quote.
